The Glass and Zogg fires are among nearly 30 wildfires burning in California. Fire-related deaths total 30.

For thousands of people, including Dino Moniodis, returning home brought a sigh of relief.

There was no containment reported for the Zogg Fire.

The Glass Fire is only 2% contained Tuesday evening, but there were signs of progress helped by milder weather, Sonoma County officials said at an online briefing.

A fire started near St. Helena and began spreading rapidly, leading authorities to order evacuations in parts of Napa County.

In addition, power to 55 customers in Lake County and two customers in Sonoma County would likely be turned off.

Intense winds can whip otherwise controllable fires into firestorms.

There weren't any evacuations ordered.

After more than a month of burning, Cal Fire officials announced Tuesday evening that the CZU Lightning Complex incident is 100% contained. However, officials were quick to point out, that does not necessarily mean controlled. 

Firefighters battling wildfires in Northern California have an unusual friend to help keep their spirits up.

Additional evacuation warnings were issued Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service warned that the dry lightning striking a parched landscape “could lead to new wildfire.”
