Lights out, again: Next wave of PG&E outages to hit 600K customers

Before electricity was restored to residents impacted by Saturday's shutoff, Pacific Gas and Electric warned that it would again cut power on Tuesday to customers in the Bay Area and parts of Northern California ahead of another severe wind event.

In the wake of a series of Public Safety Power Shutoffs taking place throughout Sonoma County due to the Kincade Fire, the California Public Utilities Commission on Monday announced it would be launching an investigation into the shutoffs.

PG&E green lights new round of power shutoffs Tuesday, could impact 600K+ customers

Pacific Gas and Electric confirmed Monday evening that it's moving forward with another round of power shutoffs that could impact anywhere from 240,000 to more than 600,000 customers. Another major wind event is expected to blow through the area beginning Tuesday before noon and should taper off midday Wednesday. 

Kincade Fire containment improves ahead of wind's return

There was more progress on the Kincade Fire Monday, but the upcoming wind event presents a serious complication. In addition, a new evacuation warning was issued Monday evening for parts of Lake County. 

Power restored to 99% of PG&E customers from midweek shutoff

PG&E Thursday gave a weather "all clear" to customers affected by its Public Safety Power Shutoff that began Wednesday in the North Bay and Sierra foothills above Interstate Highway 80, and the utility company will begin inspecting its equipment before it restores power.

PG&E found broken equipment near origin of massive Kincade Fire

Pacific Gas and Electric said it became aware Wednesday night that there was an equipment failure on a high voltage transmission line near where the Kincade Fire sparked, according to an incident report the San Francisco-based utility submitted to the California Public Utilities Commission Thursday.
