Two Long Island beaches in Suffolk County were expected to reopen Monday after a lifeguard was bitten by a shark.

A family member reportedly jumped in the water and “beat the shark” until the girl was freed.

It was Yellowstone’s second reported incident this year of a visitor getting too close to the animal, and the bison “responding to the perceived threat,” officials said.

Wildlife officials said the situation happened so quickly that the hiker couldn’t use his bear spray.

“Bears have noses 7 times better than a bloodhound and can smell even the faintest odor of food inside a vehicle. Lock your doors, roll up your windows, and never leave food or anything that smells like food inside!”

"[The owner] was worried about our safety, so he grabbed the frypan to shoo the croc away," Shane Chambers said.

"We were surprised to find that the sharks we tracked spent so much time near the lights and sounds of the busy city, often close to shore, no matter the time of day," the study author said.
