BART police chief to retire

Bart Police Chief Carlos Rojas will retire in May, after thirty years in law enforcement.  Rojas, 50, says there is no pressure for him to leave. 

BART has a new official app

BART finally has an official app for travelers. It includes an end-to-end trip planner, service advisories, station information and real-time information straight from the transit system's data.

BART board votes derails Livermore extension plan

BART's board of directors narrowly voted down a five-mile extension of their Dublin-Pleasanton line to Livermore on Thursday night. So many people showed up to the meeting, the overflow room was needed. Many say service to the Tri-Valley area is needed because the housing crisis is pushing people out to the Central Valley. Jana Katsuyama reports.

A second BART tube?

BART is set to begin talks about a second Transbay Tube running across the Bay. There's been talk of this for years, but the transportation agency appears to now be taking it seriously. Cristina Rendon reports.

New BART cars go into service Friday

he California Public Utilities Commission on Wednesday authorized BART to put 10 new train cars from its Fleet of the Future project into service. Passengers may be able to ride them as soon as Friday afternoon.
