Vacaville skilled nursing owner to pay nearly $46M for alleged kickbacks

A Vacaville-based skilled nursing facility management company, its owner and six facilities have agreed to pay nearly $46 million to resolve allegations that they submitted false claims to Medicare by paying kickbacks to doctors, the U.S. Attorney's Office for Central California announced this month.     

Freeze watch for parts of Bay Area over holiday weekend

The Bay Area could see temperatures drop below freezing this weekend. The National Weather Service issued a frost advisory that lasted through 10 a.m. Saturday, and a freeze watch from Saturday night through Sunday in parts of the north bay. 

Wolf hybrid roaming near Sebastopol, police say

Officials were contacted by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife that the hybrid was seen heading south of the Highway 12 bridge on the eastern edge of Sebastopol.

Innovative, eco-friendly North Bay farm may not survive a recent fire

A North Bay farm is struggling to make ends meet after a fire tore through its facilities on Sunday. The Sunday morning fire did as much as $6 million in damage to Protein Products, LLC, an innovative, environmentally friendly farm based in Petaluma that raises fly larvae, turning them into food and fertilizer.
