The rainbow flag is a symbol of pride and acceptance for the LGBTQ community. It’s an image seen all over San Francisco’s Castro District, an area that’s had an open and welcoming nightlife since the 1970s.

Harvey's Halo crowns Milk's election anniversary in Castro

THE LGBTQ community celebrated two important events in history Wednesday night: the 40th anniversary  of Harvey Milk's election as San Francisco Supervisor and the 20th anniversary of the giant flagpole that flies the rainbow flag in the Castro.
