Voting age for Oakland, Berkeley school boards lowered to 16

For the first time ever in California, teenagers as young as 16 will be able to cast their votes in school board elections this November in the cities of Oakland and Berkeley. The historic move comes after voters approved two ballot measures in 2016 and 2020 that permits teen participation in local school board races. Rash of car wheel thefts expand to Walnut Creek

Add Walnut Creek to the list of Bay Area communities now being targeted by car wheel thieves. Last week, vehicle owners in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, and Petaluma also reported their vehicles stripped down to their hubs. Similar to the crimes in Sonoma County, police in Walnut Creek say the thieves are striking apartment complexes, mostly at night, and targeting Honda and Toyota models.

A cooler system is expected to move in from the north Sunday. You can expect mostly cloudy skies first thing Sunday morning. The clouds will gradually clear to near the shoreline later in the day.
