Man arrested for setting several Sunnyvale trash cans on fire

Officers initially responded at about 2:20 a.m. to a report of trash cans burning near a residence in the 800 block of South Mary Avenue. The fire damaged a fence and parked vehicle before being extinguished, public safety officials said.

21-year-old woman killed, minor arrested for DUI in early morning Sunnyvale crash

A 21-year-old San Jose woman was killed Sunday morning in a solo vehicle crash on the connector from westbound State Route 237 to northbound 101 in Sunnyvale, the California Highway Patrol reported. The driver of the vehicle, a minor, was placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI, CHP Officer Ross Lee said.

A fight is underway in Sunnyvale to save apricot trees in one of the last remaining orchards in Silicon Valley. The orchard sits behind the Sunnyvale Community Center. The historical museum next door wants to expand and that could result in cutting down trees. KTVU's Azenith Smith reports.
