Historic snow event in the Sierra
10" to 20" of snowfall is already on the ground in the Sierra with more on the way. The blizzard warning for the Sierra goes into Sunday morning. There is also an avalanche warning for Saturday morning.

Sierra blizzard: what you need to know
A cold storm from the Gulf of Alaska has led authorities to issue a blizzard warning covering much of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California. Up to 12 feet of snow could fall in the hardest hit areas.
