Hottest day of week brings fire danger

Wednesday afternoon will be the hottest time of the week and due to strong winds, there is a red flag warning about the potential for wildfires. By Friday, temperatures are likely to be about 20 degrees cooler.

Red Flag Warning for North Bay mountains

A Red Flag Warning will go into effect for the interior North Bay mountains starting at 11 p.m. Tuesday night through Wednesday evening. KTVU Meteorologist Bill Martin says the hottest day is Wednesday and then we can expect some cooling.

Weather forecast for Sunday, August 27

Light smoke from wildfires in Northern California will remain in the area. Expect temperatures to be seasonally average in the inland areas with a high around 93 degrees. Temperatures around the bay and on the coast will be warmer than average with highs in the upper 70s near the bay and upper 60s on the coast.

Air quality advisory continues into Sunday

Wildfire smoke will continue to affect air quality in the Bay Area on Sunday when temperatures will range from the upper 60s along the coast to the upper 80s and low 90s in in inland areas.

Light smoke coming from fires in Northern California will remain in the Bay Area through Saturday. Expect highs around 90 degrees for inland areas, low 70s around the bay and mid-60s for the coast.
