Shocked parents plan protests over Oakland school closure proposals
At a special school board meeting on Monday, Oakland Unified School District made their case for closing some schools by the end of the school year due to low enrollment. They say they can save $15 million annually through consolidation and by reinvesting in teachers and student services. Parents said they were upset there was no forewarning or outreach and now plan to protest.
