Man accused of beating ex-fire commissioner with metal rod will be released
The suspect accused of badly injuring ex-San Francisco fire commissioner Don Carmignani with a metal rod will be released from jail, a judge ordered. That is because Carmignani failed to show for a preliminary hearing in which he would have been called to testify about the alleged attack by Garret Doty. Doty, an unhoused person, claimed self-defense and his attorney alleges that Carmignani has used bear spray to douse people who are homeless.
