New breast cancer screening guidelines

The United States Preventive Services Task Force is now recommending women should start getting regular mammograms at the age of 40. Experts say there has been a 10% increase in the number of breast cancer cases among women under the age of 50 in recent years. Previously, recommendations called for regular mammogram screenings starting at the age of 50. Dr. Anne Peled, a breast cancer surgeon at Sutter Health, joined us on 'The Nine' to talk about the importance of early detection, and discussed her own personal experience with the disease.
