Addressing the opioid crisis in California

The number of opioid-related deaths in the Bay Area is on the rise. Data from the California Department of Public Health shows that San Francisco County had 489 500 opioid-related overdoses in 2023. Alameda County reported 299, while Santa Clara County reported 207 in the same time period. Sonara Health, a company focusing on treating opioid addiction, developed an app and QR code to make finding take-home methadone treatments, easier. Michael Giles, the company's CEO, joined us on 'The Nine' for more insight on the ongoing effort to address the opioid crisis.
