Debate continues over smartphone ban in schools

Governor Newsom has called for stricter policies to either limit or ban smartphones in the classroom. Many Bay Area school districts have already restricted or prohibited them, but some still allow it. Legislation has been introduced to ban smartphones in the classroom statewide, however, AB 3216 has not had much movement since May. Kris Perry, the executive director of Children and Screens: Institute of Digital Media and Child Development, joined us on 'The Nine' to talk more about the effect screen time has on children.
