Study finds possible cause, cure for Lupus

Scientists may have pinpointed the primary cause of Lupus. Researchers from Northwestern Medicine and Brigham and Women's Hospital say they have discovered a molecular defect that leads to the autoimmune disease. They say it's an imbalance of the type of T cells that cause cellular damage. Scientists also discovered that activating a specific protein can prevent the T cells from turning into disease-causing cells, which could pave the way for new treatments. Dr. Rina Mina, a rheumatologist at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, joined us on 'The Nine' for more insight.
