Armed man detained after 100 mph chase through East Bay

A man was detained late Sunday night after a high-speed chase through the East Bay that ended in West Oakland, where officers had their guns drawn and crowds were cheering and screaming on the sidewalk. The California Highway Patrol did not identify the man, but said he was armed and on parole for an unspecified homicide.
