EBMUD wants to hike rates over objections by 19 percent
The East Bay Municipal Utility District board will hold a public hearing and vote on increasing water rates by 19 percent on Tuesday afternoon, over the objections many customers, including those who say it’s too much and is unfairly penalizing people who conserved during the drought. In addition, many of the customers also say they think it targets those who live in Contra Costa County, where temperatures are hotter and lawns are often bigger. Allie Rasmus reports
