Elton John calls for boycott of Dolce and Gabbana

Elton John is speaking out against fashion house Dolce and Gabbana after the designers behind the brand made judgmental comments regarding same-sex families.

John, 67, has two children with his husband, David Furnish.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the business partners behind D&G, have spoken out against fertility treatment and same-sex marriage. They have stood by those comments despite being gay themselves and formerly a couple.

Last week, the pair made controversial comments about "non-traditional" families in an interview with Italy's Panorama magazine.

In his Instagram response, Elton John wrote: "How dare you refer to my beautiful children as "synthetic". And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana"
