Motorcyclist dies after colliding with pickup truck in Vallejo

A motorcyclist is dead after crashing into a pickup truck in Vallejo the night of Christmas Eve, officials said.

The crash occurred around 11:20 p.m. on Marin and Florida Streets when a Chevy Silverado was driving southbound on Marin Street and the motorcyclist was driving northbound.

Both entered the Florida Street intersection with a green light, the Vallejo Police Department said.

While the truck driver was trying to make a left turn onto eastbound Florida Street, he didn't yield to oncoming traffic, officials said. The motorcyclist wasn't able to avoid colliding and crashed into the passenger side of the truck bed.

The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
