Oakland police arrest carjacking suspect after crash injures several

Oakland police arrested a carjacking suspect late Monday afternoon after a collision with another car.

The carjacking occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 300 block of East 12th Street, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Officers located the carjacked vehicle and attempted to stop it; however, the suspect fled and struck another car a short time later, police said.

The suspect exited the carjacked vehicle and tried to run but was captured.

Authorities said several victims in the second vehicle were injured in the collision.

Officials have not elaborated on the extent of the victims' injuries, but video showed a person on a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance.
