Police arrest Morgan Hill man found with drugs and loaded gun

MORGAN HILL, Calif. (BCN) - A 26-year-old man was arrested after officers found a loaded gun and drugs inside his car.

The incident began when an officer was on patrol near Butterfield Boulevard and Jarvis Drive, according to police.

When the officer noticed what appeared to be a suspicious vehicle, the officer contacted the driver, who displayed evasive behavior, police said.

When backup officers arrived, they located an unregistered, loaded semi-automatic handgun with a large capacity magazine, as well as narcotics, drug paraphernalia and additional high capacity magazines, according to police.

Officers then arrested the driver, identified as 26-year-old Richard Vallarta, on suspicion of multiple felony charges, police said.
