The three top democrats vying for the late Senator Dianne Feinstein's senate seat are traveling up and down the state making their final pitch to voters ahead of Super Tuesday. KTVU's Heather Holmes and Alex Savidge are joined live in studio by political reporter Greg Lee and political analyst Brian Sobel to break down the expensive battle to fill this rare open seat.

Supreme Court rules Trump stays on ballot

In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court ruled states cannot bar former president Trump from their ballot. The justices rejected a Colorado challenge to Trump's eligibility that was based on a constitutional provision that prevents insurrectionists from holding office. For more on the implications of this decision, KTVU's Alex Savidge and Heather Holmes are joined in studio by UC Hastings Law professor David Levine.

Campaign turmoil, legal issues continue for Trump

Former President Trump is appealing an Illinois judge's ruling, keeping him off of the republican primary ballot. Illinois is the third state to make the move. Dozens of lawsuits have been filed to remove his name, arguing he is ineligible due to a clause in the 14th amendment prohibiting those who 'engaged in insurrection' from holding office. The Illinois ruling is delayed from taking effect until the Supreme Court makes a decision in a similar case in Colorado. The Supreme Court will also hear arguments in Trump's immunity case. KTVU's Alex Savidge speaks with Loyola Marymount Professor of Law Laurie Levenson about the nuances of the situation and what's at stake.

Congress debates federal IVF protections, fertility care

Senate republicans blocked legislation introduced by democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth that would have protected access to in vitro fertilization (IVF). The bill was a response to a controversial court ruling on IVF by the Alabama Supreme Court that upended fertility care in the state, ruling frozen embryos can be considered children under state law. Democrats warned other states could follow Alabama's lead and limit access to IVF. KTVU's Alex Savidge and Cristina Rendon discuss the possible paths forward with Georgetown Law professor and reproductive rights expert Michele Goodwin.

One week from election day, voter turnout may hit record low

California's primary election and Super Tuesday are a week away and voters have a rare opportunity to elect new leadership in Washington from the Bay Area. But so far, voter turnout has been so weak, it is possible we may see record low numbers. President Biden makes campaign stop in Bay Area

President Biden made a brief stop at Marina Green in San Francisco this afternoon before heading to a political fundraiser with Getty's in the city.
