Firefighters battled a fast moving grassfire in Pittsburg Tuesday afternoon, which threatened a nearby neighborhood. The fire, which at one point grew to nearly 20 acres, was caused by someone living in a nearby homeless encampment, according to Contra Costa County Fire.

Investigators say a grass fire in Pittsburg on Tuesday began at a homeless encampment. Firefighters are in the ‘mop-up’ stages after responding to the vegetation fire. 

Firefighters in San Francisco contained a four-acre wildland fire in McLaren Park Tuesday afternoon. No structures were burned and no one was injured.

Firefighters were confronted by wildfires near Santa Rosa and the Altamont Pass on Saturday as the Bay Area baked under high temperatures.

Firefighters are battling a two-acre wildfire in Santa Clara County, west of Gilroy, late Friday afternoon. By the evening, officials said the fire was 40% contained.

A vegetation fire briefly prompted evacuations in San Rafael Monday evening. Officials said the fire is affecting the 200 block of Highland and Summit avenues. The fire was first reported just after 10 p.m. The evacuation warning came about 10 minutes later. 

The Old Fire that has burned 570 acres in Napa County just north of Napa is at 85 percent containment, according to Cal Fire. 

All evacuation orders and road closures due to the Old Fire have been fully lifted in Napa County, Cal Fire announced Thursday.

A structure fire in Mill Valley briefly forced evacuations and then a shelter-in-place Wednesday evening, authorities said.

Cal Fire crews continue to fight the Old Fire north of the city of Napa, working through the night to bring containment to 30% by Wednesday evening, the agency said.

Hundreds of people who were ordered to evacuate from Napa County because of a wildfire are now allowed to go back home.

Firefighters are battling a steadily-growing vegetation fire that is threatening structures in Napa Tuesday afternoon. Cal Fire officials said the fire is 5% contained. 

The Fern Fire was contained to 1.5 acres burned near Boulder Creek in Santa Cruz County after breaking out Monday, Cal Fire said.
