An anniversary celebration in the Napa Valley turned deadly Saturday night when a San Francisco couple's Uber ride was hit in a head-on collision.

The crash killed 28-year-old Jaryd Anthony Dock and sent his wife Sara Tashakorinia, 27, to the hospital with major injuries.

Two drivers were also hurt.

Dock and Tashakorinia were in the Napa Valley to celebrate their first anniversary and had hired an Uber to take them from their hotel to the Morimoto Napa restaurant, according to Napa County Sheriff's Capt. Steve Blower.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday, the driver of a Dodge Avenger, who was traveling north on Highway 29 in Yountville crossed double yellow lines into southbound lanes.

The car first sideswiped a pick-up truck before slamming head-on into the Hyundai Sonata that Dock and Tashakorinia were in, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Dock was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck that was sideswiped was not hurt, but the Uber driver, 48-year-old Beau Washington of Vacaville, and the driver of the Dodge Avenger, 53-year-old Hilda Arroyo of Angwin, suffered major injuries, according to investigators.

Investigators said none of the drivers were impaired.

The CHP told KTVU on Tuesday that it's still unclear why Arroyo lost control of her car.

She told investigators that she had just left work at a restaurant in Napa before the collision, according to sheriff's officials.

Investigators plan to conduct an inspection of Arroyo's vehicle on Wednesday to rule out mechanical failure.
