BART police arrests two people for evading fares
OAKLAND, Calif. (BCN) - BART officers nabbed two people on suspicion of fare evasion Saturday, one at Oakland's Fruitvale station and one at a Berkeley station, police said early this morning.
The first case took place at a Berkeley BART station around 10:50 a.m., according to police.
A man evaded paying the fare, then fled on foot, police said.
Officers apprehended the man and took him to the Berkeley City Jail, according to police.
The second case was around 7:33 p.m. An officer detained a man for fare evasion at the Fruitvale BART station, police said.
A records check revealed that the suspect allegedly had a $20,000 warrant on suspicion of identity theft issued by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, police said.
Officers arrested the suspect based on the warrant and he was booked at the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland.
