BART resumes Transbay service for morning commute

OAKLAND, Calif. (BCN) - BART resumed Transbay service between Oakland and San Francisco on Tuesday morning.

The Transbay Tube had been closed for three days for maintenance, BART officials said.

The first trains made their runs at about 4:10 a.m., the officials said.

But the first trains were running about 20 minutes late to restore normal operation through the tube, according to BART officials.

BART closed the tube, to replace new tracks along the system, which BART said, will speed up rides, make them smoother and less noisy.
