An explosion at a home in Union City Monday night left two adults injured, officials say.

The explosion happened just after 8 p.m. on Elizabeth Way. A spokesman with Alameda County Fire Department said the cause of the explosion is under investigation.

One person was taken to the hospital and released. The other was taken to a burn center in Santa Clara County.

A witness said at first she thought it was a car slamming into a home. Rebecca Soltau said she felt the explosion shake her home. She said a man, possibly in his 40s, came out of the house running and said "It's bad! It's bad! Call 911!"

The witness said she could see the front windows of the home were blown out.
