Homicide suspect flees before Fairfield Police move in

Fairfield Police closed down streets and issued a shelter in place overnight, as they searched for a suspect in a deadly shooting.

Investigators say Kyle Matthew Amos, 28, shot and killed 28-year-old La Angelo Darnell Stroughter, of Fairfield at a parking lot on 1850 Blossom Avenue on April 6.

Detectives searched a home in Fairfield last night looking for Amos.

Because of the nature of the crime, a SWAT unit was brought in as backup.

Police closed off the area of Stephen and James Streets, which is near Highway 12, until just after 1 a.m.

People who live in the area were advised to remain indoors, with their doors and windows locked.

But police said Amos fled, just before they arrived.

They consider him armed and dangerous.
