Longtime shelter rescue searching for furever home, he's been waiting 9 years
WASHINGTON - If you've been searching for a four-legged best friend you need look no further, we found him! A very good dog who's been a nine-year resident at FOHA animal rescue is in desperate need of a family.
Hopper, the 14-year-old pitbull mix, is a very sweet and affectionate boy who wants nothing more than to love and be loved! He's basically "paw-fect."
Rescued from the streets in 2004 by FOHA, a no-kill shelter, he was found with very sore and painful paws from always being on the run. So when the little guy would walk he'd have a little hop, earning him the name Hopper!
Genius? We think so!
After he was treated and healed, he was adopted into a family with kids. But after a few years, he was returned -- at no fault of his own. Like we said, he's a very good boy.
But now NINE years later, Hopper is still waiting to be adopted! He's well cared for and loved by all the staff and volunteers, but Hopper deserves to find a forever family.
And because Hopper loves love so much, he doesn't like sharing affection with other dogs, so he needs to be the ONLY one in the home-- that includes a home without cats. But he loves people!
If you're wondering if his age has slowed him down, FOHA says that is not the case! He's got a very "pawsitive" outlook on life.
"Despite being 14, Hopper is a power-walker, not a stop and smell the roses kind of guy but if you tell him to “slow down” he will! He knows basic commands and easily steps into his harness! He loves treats and we think has one of the best smiles around," FOHA told FOX 5.
Since Hooper is on a "Senior Care Program" his adoption fee is waived and he's also eligible for up to $1,500 in reimbursable medical expenses!
FOHA says Hopper can only be adopted in the DC metro area and surrounding cities as they require a home visit. For any questions, please contact dogapplications@foha.org or visit their website.
