A 4-year-old boy who was gravely wounded by gunfire in Oakland is making strides in his recovery.

Na'Vaun Jackson is finally back home after he accidentally shot himself in the head three months ago.

Doctors told his family he likely would be brain dead or never walk again after he got a hold of a gun in the home of his mother's ex-boyfriend on March 27.  He was immediately put on life support and placed in a medically induced coma.

At one point, his family didn't know if he'd survive.

Doctors say he's getting stronger every day but he still can't walk.

Jackson's grandfather says the boy's right side is not as strong as his left, but they remain confident he will eventually be able to walk again.

After the accident, his mother's estranged boyfriend, Terrence L. Wilson, told Oakland police he slept with the gun under his pillow and had forgotten to lock it up.

Wilson was arrested and faces a number of charges including child endangerment.
