Oakland police investigating deadly shooting

OAKLAND, Calif. - A late-night shooting in an Oakland neighborhood claimed the life of a victim Friday, police said. 

Police said the shooting occurred in the 4000 block of Edwards Avenue just before 9:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where they later died. 

Officials aren't sharing the victim's name pending family notification.
