One person hospitalized in downtown SJ apartment complex fire

One person was hospitalized after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in downtown San Jose this morning.

The fire was first reported at 6:01 a.m. at 525 S. Ninth Street, according fire Capt. Mitch Matlow.

At least one unit sustained fire damage, while about 10 others sustained water or mechanical damage, Matlow said.

The number of people displaced is unknown at this time, as fire officials and the building's managers are assessing the extent of the damage sustained to the units, according to Matlow.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, however, appears to be accidental, Matlow said.
