Researchers in Israel and Amsterdam studied whether it's a good or bad idea to include emoticons in work e-mails.
They conducted several different experiments and found that people who get e-mail messages with emojis in them view their work colleagues as less competent.
Not all workers use emoticons, but those that do, use a happy face about 64 percent of the time.
