The first of four Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors budget hearing sessions is slated for Monday in San Jose, focusing on a budget overview and finance and government operations, county officials said.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at the board's chambers at 70 West Hedding St., beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The budget recommended by County Executive Jeffrey Smith for the fiscal year 2018-19 proposes spending almost $7 billion to continue strengthening the organization, according to county officials.

The county executive is asking the Board of Supervisors to invest in technology, facility upgrades, expansion of healthcare services, improved social services, jail custody improvements, and enhancements to the County park system.

The budget also adds to reserves to protect against anticipated federal and state budget cuts. More details are available at https://www.sccgov.org/sites/opa/newsroom/Pages/2018-2019budgethearingsessions.aspx.
