Tractor trailer overturns on I-580 near Livermore

LIVERMORE, Calif. (KTVU) - A tractor trailer accident has closed left lanes of westbound Interstate 580 east of North Flynn Road west of Livermore near the Altamont Pass.

Transit officials issued a Severe Traffic Alert  shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday that remained in effect as of 4 p.m.

The tractor trailer had overturned and crews reported it on its side at 1:19 p.m. The driver’s condition was not known and it is not clear if there were any injuries from the accident or how it happened. Crews managed to get the big rig upright. 

Traffic is backed up for miles. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to expect delays.

There is no estimated time for the roadway’s reopening.
